Was that a great 9th or what?
I was busy this evening attending a meeting for one of my volunteer commitments, missing American Idol and the second home game for the season.
I didn't get a glimpse of Sanjaya's hairstyle for the week, but I caught the 9th inning of the A's vs. White Sox. With the score at 1-0 Chicago, I knew it was a great game that I missed. Chad Gaudin vs. Jon Garland in a pitcher's duel. But apparently I tuned in just in time.
In the bottom of the 9th, Milton Bradley singles, Mike Piazza gets on and is replaced by pinch runner Marco Scutaro, and "struggling" Chavy strikes out (sigh). Todd Walker singles to score Bradley.
Honestly, I don't even know who Todd Walker is.
Game tied and Bobby Jenks intentionally walks Travis Buck to face Mark Ellis with the bases loaded. Ellis whacks the ball to hit the scoreboard in left field and Scutaro scoots home to win the game, 2-1.
Seeing the A's surge out of the dugout to crowd around Ellis made my day.

I was there! I was there! :-)
In the bottom of the 9th, I was thinking, "Well, there's another great A's pitching performance gone to waste." Then when neither Chavez nor Swisher managed to bring home Bradley to at least tie the game, I pretty much gave up.
But Geren replaced Crosby with Walker, which I thought was surprising. Even more surprising is when Walker singled home Bradley.
Then for some unfathomable reason, the White Sox manager intentionally walked Travis Buck. OK, sure, he had a triple earlier -- but he's a rookie and probably a tad anxious.
Much better to face Mark Ellis who hit a ball off the wall to win the game! Much celebrating commenced :-)
Yay! Good for you that you were able to go, No. 19. After my botched attempt to organize a group of us to go to the home opener...
Here's this week's performance by Sanjaya on YouTube. J.Lo definitely has the hots for him.
